MULLED WINE

INGREDIENTS

Bottle of Kiepersol Merlot

¼ cup Jimmy’s Texas Bourbon

½ cup maple syrup

1 inch peeled fresh ginger

1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice

2 sticks of cinnamon

3 whole cloves

1 star anise

1 sliced orange

COMBINE

Combine all ingredients into a crock pot. You can do this over the stove with a non-reactive metallic pot (avoiding copper and aluminum). Cover and heat on low without boiling. Steep slowly over this low heat for 2-4 hours.

SERVE

Remove the aromatics from the liquid. Serve with garnishes such as sliced orange, cinnamon stick, fresh rosemary, cranberries, or pomegranate. This recipe can be made in advance and will keep refrigerated for up to 4 days.
