A Little Taste of Fall: Apple, Goat Cheese & Prosciutto Crostini with Kiepersol Vit

Sweet, savory, creamy, and crisp. This easy fall appetizer brings together some of our favorite seasonal flavors, perfectly paired with a chilled glass of Kiepersol Vit.

There's something wonderful about fall entertaining. The days are getting shorter, the evenings a little cooler, and suddenly we're ready to gather around the table with good food, good wine, and good company.

These Apple, Goat Cheese & Prosciutto Crostini are just the thing for the season. Crisp slices of toasted sourdough are topped with creamy goat cheese, salty prosciutto, thinly sliced fresh apples, a drizzle of honey, and a little fresh thyme.

Every bite has a lovely balance of flavors and textures. They're beautiful enough for a holiday gathering but simple enough to enjoy on a quiet evening at home.

And the best part? They come together in about 30 minutes.

Simple Ingredients, Beautiful Fall Flavors

Fall apples are the star of this recipe. We love using a crisp, slightly sweet apple like Honeycrisp or Pink Lady. Their fresh crunch is a wonderful contrast to the soft goat cheese and delicate folds of prosciutto.

A little honey adds sweetness, while fresh thyme brings an earthy, herbal note that makes the whole combination feel especially suited to autumn.

There's no complicated preparation or cooking technique here. Just a handful of flavorful ingredients that work beautifully together.

The Perfect Wine Pairing: Kiepersol Semi-Sweet Vit

We paired these crostini with our 2025 Kiepersol Vit, a refreshing, off-dry white wine inspired by the Rieslings of Europe.

Vit has beautiful notes of white peach, mandarin, melon, and honeysuckle, with a gentle sweetness balanced by fresh acidity.

It's a natural companion for this appetizer.

The wine's fruit-forward character complements the fresh apple and drizzle of honey, while its bright acidity cuts through the richness of the goat cheese. The slight sweetness also provides a lovely contrast to the salty prosciutto.

Even the fresh thyme finds a place alongside Vit's delicate floral and fruity aromas.

Together, the wine and crostini create that wonderful balance of sweet, salty, creamy, and crisp, with neither overpowering the other.

Serve Vit nicely chilled and enjoy how the flavors come together.

Apple Crostini

Apple, Goat Cheese & Prosciutto Crostini

Serves: 6 to 8
Makes: Approximately 18 crostini
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 sourdough baguette

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 8 ounces goat cheese, softened

  • 1 to 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

  • 1 crisp red apple, such as Honeycrisp or Pink Lady

  • 6 thin slices prosciutto

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • Fresh thyme leaves

  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • A pinch of flaky salt

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Slice the sourdough baguette diagonally into approximately ½-inch slices. Arrange on a baking sheet and lightly brush the tops with olive oil. Bake for 7 to 10 minutes, until lightly golden and crisp around the edges. Let cool slightly.

  2. Prepare the goat cheese. In a small bowl, stir the softened goat cheese with 1 tablespoon of milk or heavy cream until smooth and spreadable. Add a little more liquid if needed.

  3. Slice the apple. Cut the apple into very thin slices, leaving the pretty red skin on for color. Toss gently with the lemon juice to help prevent browning.

  4. Assemble the crostini. Spread each toasted baguette slice with a generous layer of goat cheese. Tear the prosciutto into smaller pieces and loosely fold a piece over the cheese. Top with one or two thin apple slices.

  5. Add the finishing touches. Drizzle lightly with honey, then sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves, freshly ground black pepper, and just a tiny pinch of flaky salt.

  6. Serve and enjoy. Arrange on a platter and serve with a chilled glass of Kiepersol Vit.

Make-Ahead Tips

These crostini are best assembled shortly before serving, so the bread stays crisp and the apples look fresh.

To make entertaining even easier, toast the baguette slices and prepare the goat cheese mixture ahead of time. Store the cheese in the refrigerator, then give it a quick stir before spreading. Slice the apples and assemble everything just before your guests arrive.

A Little Something to Share

Whether you're planning a fall dinner party, putting together a Thanksgiving appetizer spread, or enjoying a simple evening with someone special, these crostini make it easy to bring a little seasonal beauty to the table.

Pour a glass of chilled Kiepersol Vit, arrange the crostini on your favorite platter, and enjoy the flavors of fall.

Sometimes the simplest combinations are the most memorable.
